Looking through old papers, and I found…

One of my first rejections. It was for the now defunct White Knuckles. It was a check box form reject with a little note by John R. Platt scribbled on the bottom. According to the check boxes, my story “Soul Searching” (whatever the hell that is)

–lacks an identifiable hero
–villians aren’t scary enough
–story opens tooooo sloooowwwwwllyyy
–please give a word count on all submissions
–not emotional enough

For a story that must have been pretty shitty, only five checks out of roughly fifty isn’t too shabby. I wonder where that story is…
